B-b-but privacy is for criminals to hide secrets! I have nothing to hide so I have nothing to fear. If you believe this you are delusional. There are plenty of things you should want to hide. For examle, a secret you probably don't want exposed is your ID. Identity theft exists because someone's personally identifiable information is valuable. Privacy isn't just about hiding secrets, but also about having the power to choose who you share information with. In any case, tons of these "arguments against privacy" have been pushed heavily by corporations with lots of power to influence. It is precisely those corporations that benefit the most from pushing this kind of agenda, so that they can continue to control, exploit, manipulate, and profit from your data (and negligence).
